What’s a time-location diagram?
A time-location diagram is a schedule that includes the geographical dimension into task scheduling, hence its name. It has been in use for decades in public works such as roads or bridges, and turns out to be quite powerful when adapted to the scheduling of construction work.
What are the advantages of time-location diagrams, compared to Gantt diagrams?
The first benefit from using a time-location diagram is how simple it is to create. As you will start thinking in terms of flows rather than just tasks, you will need 5 to 10× less time to devise your schedule. Moreover, it will be extremely pleasant and easy to read, and most often understood by everyone instantaneously. Finally, its strength is in the immediate analysis you can perform on it. The optimisation opportunities will be apparent right away: idle time cuts, production operations smoothing, bottlenecks… As many things that are impossible with a Gantt diagram, which does not make flows apparent.
Why use software to create a time-location diagram?
Using tools that are dedicated for your use case is important. Using LeanCo Planification will allow you to build your time-location diagram quickly and following a specific method, yielding a high-quality deliverable. Moreover, throughout your project, you will enter a continuous improvement loop, owing to the data aggregated as you go.
What’s Last Planner © System (LPS)?
LPS or Last Planner © System means scheduling is driven by the agent at the end of the decision chain. It is a collaborative tool, designed for scheduling and managing prodction. This tool’s philosophy can me summed up as “the one who does is the one who knows”. The method involves a contribution by the “Last Planner”, that is, the person performing the task (e.g. a team leader), to short-term scheduling within the project. This takes place during iterative sessions where all “Last Planners” meet. This allows for fine-grained coordination and quick resolution of stumbling blocks.
What can I do with LeanCo Planification?
Thanks to LeanCo Planification, you can create your time-location diagram, manage it, sign off on its tasks, and update it. The generated data is accessible though an elegant dashboard, which will accelerate decision-making concerning improvement initiatives. It’s like a car navigation system for managing constructrion work! You will also be able to manage and share with all contractors the reservation schedule for delivery zones and lifting gear available on your construction site.
What are the prerequisites for using the LeanCo Planification software?
Ideally, your teams should already know about the Lean approach or time-distance scheduling. Should this not be the case, we can offer to perform dedicated individual or group training sessions. These prerequisites guarantee good understanding of this scheduling method, and what specific issues need analysis. However, even without meeting these prerequisites, you will be able to use our software easily!

Is there any specific management of access rights on a per-user basis?
The project contact can invite as many people as desired on the platform, and grant them each the rights that match their functions. Here are the available rights to pick from:
– See or edit the entire project
– See the dashboard
– See or monitor the schedule

My construction site is actually public works, is the software suitable?
This software is originally designed for the construction of various buildings including offices, lodgings, retail outlets… However, some public works projects do use it, so why wouldn’t you?

What is time study?
Time study is a method to measure the time taken by each task. This analysis will yield the actual duration for each task, because it is based on a direct survey of one or several workers or machines, from a workstation or on a construction site.
What are the benefits of time study?
When you wish to get started with continous improvement for a workstation, diagnosis is essential. This first step will measure the improvement potential for that workstation, and will give you quantified data that will be your basis for the next steps.
What are the key steps to improve a workstation?
There are four key steps:
– Presenting results to workers, and looking for causes and solutions
– Deploying the solutions found
– Follow-up, to make the improvements permanent
Who is in charge of time study?
No one in particular has to perform time study. Oftentimes it will be a member of the methods office, construction manager, or team lead.
Can several observers perform time study?
If you need to survey many people at the same workstation at once, it can be more comfortable to have several observers. However, since analysis will happen on several mobile tablets, the results will be dissociated. You can still export the data in a spreadsheet to aggregate it.
What workstations can I survey during time study?
Any kind of workstation can be observed: whether it is concrete work such as beams/columns, or workstations and machines that are much more rarely observed, such as a construction manager, or the crane!
How many measures can I run in parallel?
With our application, you can observe only one workstation at a time. However, we are working on an update that will be released during the year 2021, and will allow for surveying several workstations at once.
How long does it take to setup LeanCo Performance?
The setup of LeanCo Performance is very quick. After your order is placed, you will receive an e-mail with installation instructions. This will take only a few minutes.
Can I use LeanCo Performance on my smartphone?
For now, due to usability concerns, the application is only usable on tablet screen formats. However, the new version that will be released during the year 2021 will allow you to perform time study on your smartphone.
Can I export the measures I ran in the LeanCo Performance app?
All the measures made in the application can be exported as a spreadsheet or as PDF.
Is training needed to use the application?
LeanCo Performance’s intuitive interface was designed for quick and easy pick-up, so no training is required! Put on your PPE, grab your mobile tablet and let the application guide you!
Why are processing times for warranty claims suboptimal?
Processing a warranty claim takes a lot of time (1 month in average). There are several reasons to this: many involved parties, low responsiveness, lack of data centralisation, loss of data…
What is the LeanCo Resolution application?
LeanCo Resolution is a dedicated application for handling warranty claims. From a smartphone, the occupant can report an incident in the lodging or common areas. The real estate company will then mandate the contractor in charge, who will directly contact the occupant to set an appointment. With LeanCo Resolution, you’re assured to centralise warranty claims, and that they will instantaneously be transmitted to the concerned party. Moreover, you will be able to track progress and tell your contractors about their pending tasks, on top of the automatic reminders the software sends them.
Which are the involved parties who will use LeanCo Resolution?
The software was designed to facilitate the three-way interaction between: the reporter (owner, tenant, or more generally speaking the occupant), the real estate companies (property manager, real estate developer, trustee…) and the contractors (plumber, electrician, painter…).
Do all involved parties pay for using LeanCo Resolution?
Only the real estate developer is billed (in the case of a new buildings programme). The application will therefore be accessible free of charge for all other parties. In doing this, the real estate developer gains a competitive advantage, by guaranteeing to all other parties the benefits of simple and efficient processing of warranty claims.
What kind of construction work could LeanCo Resolution be used with?
You can use LeanCo Resolution on any kind of construction work: housing and lodgings, office buildings, hotels, schools, hospitals, industry buildings…
Can I use the software for maintenance at a facility?
LeanCo Resolution can not only be used to track and manage warranty claims in a new project, but also in pre-existing buildings. If you are a facility manager in charge of maintenance work on enterprise estate, office buildings or student accomodation, then our software is exactly what you need!
Can I use LeanCo Resolution for managing operations prior to acceptance?
We are currently developing a dedicated module for handling operations prior to acceptance and during reception. This module will notably provide the option to import your floor plans and locate your claims on them.
Do I need to import the floor plans in LeanCo Resolution?
Plans aren’t needed for using the application for managing warranty claims after delivery to the buyer. However, if you wish to use our application module for operations prior to acceptance, you will be given the option to import them.
Is training needed in order to use the LeanCo Resolution app?
The user interface in LeanCo Resolution was designed for easy pickup. After a presentation session of about 1 hour, you will have be able to use all of its features.
How long does it take to set up the solution?
After configuring your project, which takes you approximately two hours, the solution will be deployed within a few days’ time.
After setting up LeanCo Resolution, how do I tell the occupants and contractors about the change in how warranty claims will be processed?
LeanCo will accompany you by providing handouts for buyers, tenants, the trustee and property managers. They will be distributed in the lodgings or office spaces, in the documentation package, and displayed in common areas. Your contractors will also receive a presentation and usage instructions by e-mail.
